HSE Coordinator

Job Description

ECCO Gulf Majorel Qatar is seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Coordinator to join our team in Qatar. As an HSE Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental standards are met and maintained across our operations. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with local and international safety regulations.

  • Ensure the health and safety of people, property, the environment, and the reputation of the client, this includes overseeing the implementation of the company’s HSE rules and regulations across project sites.
  • Develop and implement project-specific HSE plans and procedures. This involves creating a clear strategy for health, safety, and environmental issues and communicating it to all project stakeholders.
  • Identify hazards and assess risks associated with project activities.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks, including preventive measures, and ensure these measures are effectively implemented on-site.
  • Coordinate and conduct HSE training sessions for staff.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents and prepare reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement auditing and inspection plans for the project. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with HSE standards. Report findings and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Maintain records and documentation related to HSE activities.
  • Act as the primary contact between the project team and the client, as well as any other stakeholders. Communicate HSE issues effectively and coordinate with the client, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies and external auditors.
  • Organize and lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly HSE meetings with project stakeholders to review safety performance, discuss incidents, and share best practices.

Required Profile

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in health, safety, and environmental management. The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire & Safety, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Electronics, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, Instrumentation, or Production Engineering or Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), with at least 6 years in the capacity of HSE Coordinator.
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international HSE regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in conducting HSE audits.

  • Experience in training project personnel on HSE procedures.

  • Strong ability to conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions.

  • Knowledge of applicable national and international HSE laws.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and work in non-air-conditioned environments for extended periods, particularly when inspecting the site or supervising activities.

  • May be required to work outside of regular hours during emergencies or high-priority incidents.

  • Ability to develop, implement, and manage effective HSE procedures and practices across various project types.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HSE management software.
  • Certification in NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent is preferred.
