- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the enterprise-wide business
continuity management program including development of tools and instructional
guides for both businesses and IT - Develop disaster recovery plans for physical locations with critical assets such as
data centres - Develop contingency plans to deal with organizational emergencies
- Test documented disaster recovery strategies and plans
- Analyze impact on, and risk to, essential business functions or information systems
to identify acceptable recovery time periods and resource requirements - Assess risks to business operations and develop mitigation controls and plan
- Establish, maintain, or test call trees to ensure appropriate communication during
disaster - Monitor organizational compliance with regulations
- Design or implement products and services to mitigate risk or facilitate use of
technology-based tools and methods - Create scenarios to re-establish operations from various types of business
disruptions - Implement crisis management plan and crisis communication plans
- Contribute to establishing and maintaining program processes and practices which
effectively ensure that the IT program remains current and incorporates/aligns
with industry standards and practices as appropriate, and adequately covers
general regulatory requirements - Ensure appropriate integration of requirements and information obtained from
various sources, including external regulators and Auditors - Participate as independent business continuity professional in support of various
other initiatives to achieve the risk management objectives - Identify potential Business Interruptions, develop safeguards against these
interruptions, and implement recovery procedures in the event of a business
interruption - Provide documentation and training on Contingency Planning concepts and
procedures - Safeguard data processing operations by identifying potential problem areas and
single points of failure that may result in interruptions to critical data processing
operations - Develop safeguards and Business Recovery Plans and Procedures governing the
remote Business Offices and Operations associated with the organization
• Identify and Categorize outage exposures that could cause a business interruption,
then obtain Insurance and Vendor agreements to safeguard against a disaster
event - Assess the Business Continuity implications of proposed technological or
organizational changes and coordinating any revisions to existing Business
Continuity Plans and Procedures - Coordinate routine updates to the detailed information supporting the Business
Continuity Procedures (e.g., contact lists, personnel assignments, hardware and
software specifications, network diagrams, vital records management and
inventory lists, off-site back-up schedules, etc.) - Coordinate electronic access to, and hard copy distribution of, the Business
Continuity Plans and Procedures - Consider information security continuity requirements
- Ensuring all personnel with specific Business Continuity responsibilities are
adequately trained to fulfil their assigned responsibilities - Perform other duties as requested to meet the ongoing organizational needs
Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, plus substantial continued education and training in the related
field - 8-12 years of progressive experience in Business Continuity, Disaster recovery, DR
Testing and Crisis Management - Ability to read, analyze and interpret information as it pertains to compliance related functions and regulations
- Significant, demonstrable, experience within business continuity and disaster
recovery role - Strong understanding of key Compliance, standards, and framework such as ISO,
NIST, etc. - Preferred to hold Business continuity certifications such as ISO 22301, CBCI, CBCP
etc. - Preferable have worked in Health Care Sector
