Database Administrator – SQL/Oracle Specialist

Job Description

ECCO Gulf Majorel Qatar is seeking an experienced Database Administrator – SQL/Oracle Specialist to to join our dynamic team in Qatar. As a critical member of our Information Technology and Services division, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of robust database systems that support business-critical applications and infrastructure.

Your role will involve managing SQL/Oracle database environments, ensuring data availability, security, integrity, and performance in accordance with best practices and operational requirements. You will collaborate closely with IT, engineering, and application development teams to ensure databases support current and future enterprise needs effectively.

  •          Design, install, configure, and maintain SQL/Oracle databases to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Monitor database performance, conduct tuning activities, and implement optimization strategies to enhance efficiency and response time.
  • Perform regular backups, restore operations, and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure data resilience.
  • Install, patch, upgrade, and manage database software, tools, and related components.
  • Ensure database security by implementing access controls, encryption policies, and auditing mechanisms in line with compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct routine health checks, capacity planning, and performance assessments to ensure continuous service availability.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database procedures, schema designs, configurations, and operational processes.
  • Work closely with development and engineering teams to support application integration, resolve database issues, and implement schema changes.
  • Assist in designing and executing data migration and transformation processes between environments.
  • Implement and monitor replication, clustering, and high-availability configurations to support business continuity.
  • Participate in the troubleshooting of incidents related to database performance, availability, and integrity, providing expert-level root cause analysis.
  • Stay updated with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in the database management and data governance space.
  • Ensure compliance with internal IT policies, industry best practices, and data governance frameworks.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned in support of database and infrastructure operations.

Required Profile

We are looking for a dedicated and technically proficient professional with a solid background in database administration and enterprise system support. The ideal candidate will have:

  •       Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

  •      Minimum 5+ years of experience in database administration with a focus on SQL Server and Oracle platforms.

  •      Proven expertise in managing, optimizing, and securing SQL/Oracle databases in enterprise environments.

  •      Strong understanding of PL/SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and database architecture.

  •      Experience with database clustering, replication, backup/recovery, and high-availability solutions.

  •      Familiarity with ITIL practices, change management, and ticketing systems.

  •      Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Profiler, or third-party solutions.

  •      Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to system performance and risk mitigation.

  •      Strong communication skills in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.

  •      Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or ITIL Foundation are Mandatory.

  •      Excellent oral and written communication skills (including report writing) in English and Arabic.

  •      Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment under pressure and with tight deadlines.
